Targets
Creating a master plan for a sustainable development of rio Pojuca basin.
CeTAmb activities
Socio-economical survey of the basin, evaluation of water availability and consumption, assessment of sanitary facilities, identification of polluting activities and estimation of produced loads.
Main results
Rural population often not served by nets for drinking water supply, only 12% of wastewater treated; large part of population not provided with adequate systems for wastewater collection, in rural areas, widespread practices of burning or burying waste at domestic scale; waste generally disposed of in open dumpsites.
